A Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification recognizes that a business is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by members of a minority group.

MBE Benefits

MBE Certification is awarded at the Government State or local level, and businesses that earn it can access opportunities with fortune 1000 Companies, local level government and municipal spending.

To qualify for MBE certification, a business must meet the following criteria:

Be at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by minority group members
Be owned by a U.S. citizen who is at least 25% Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, or Native American
Meet eligibility requirements for the minority group they belong to

The certification process may include document reviews, screenings, interviews, and site visits.

Many states and municipalities have their own systems for minority-owned business certification.
